PTC+‘s training feed mill produces 110 tonnes per year. On that account, it is the smallest feed mill using ADIFO’s optimisation package BESTMIX. Nevertheless, it is one of the best-known and interesting feed plants in the world.
PTC+ stands for Practical Training Centre. For more than 40 years now, PTC+ is conducting courses with applicable knowledge and skills on all the links in the production chain of plant and animal commodities, agricultural- and food technology and natural areas. More than 250 specialised trainers with relevant experience are teaching in all sectors of the society and all over the world.
The PTC+ trainings take place in own training sites. Under the supervision of experienced trainers, students work with all kinds of systems, machinery and simulated company data. PTC+ disposes of complete agricultural companies, stables, green houses, retail facilities and workshops.
Training Feed Formulation

The training ‘Feed formulation’ is meant for feed mill staff, with an indirect link (or direct link as prospective nutritionist) to the composition of feed, like: purchasers, sellers/agricultural advisory exports, production leaders, quality controllers. This course is also very interesting for raw material suppliers, live stock farmers with own blending activities and professionals in the periphery of the animal feed business.
Increasing demands for safe food of animal origin have resulted in tight regulations and control systems for all links in the livestock production chain. The quality of feed ingredients with all their various specific characteristics requires special attention in relation to the nutritional needs of livestock. Formulating safe feed at a minimum cost is essential for economical and reliable feed production. In this training, the background and possibilities of animal feed optimisation programs like BESTMIX come up.
Dual usage of BESTMIX at PTC+

The optimisation package BESTMIX can be used by 16 students at the same time.
On the one hand, the BESTMIX optimisation package is used as educational material: nationally and internationally in the field of poultry, pigs and cattle breeding and following on that: feed. Also more specific trainings for the feed industry (technical and nutritional) are possible.
On the other hand, BESTMIX is used as recipe and optimisation package for the training feed plant, which is entirely GMP+ certified. The produced feed is then used in the own school company: the stables for pigs and poultry which are again used as educational facilities.
PTC+ has been working with the BESTMIX program since 1987. Hundreds of students have already been using this specialised formulation software.
