The Lotus Bakeries assortment comes close to a hundred recipes, which together require about 250 ingredients. Els Van Parys explains: “The two most recent acquisitions suddenly added a large number of recipes to the list, making it difficult for us manage everything efficiently. Another problem was that support was no longer available for our recipe management and nutritional calculation package and we were forced to resort to spreadsheets. Needless to say, this situation was untenable: not only was there the sheer variety of recipes and ingredients, but they were spread over no fewer than eleven production facilities! Having used SAP as an ERP package for years, we turned to that specialist IT company for a solution.

They did indeed have a nutritional calculation module, but it soon turned out that a great deal of custom programming would be needed to tailor this package to our needs and requirements. Not only that, but in terms of user-friendliness the application came nowhere near the ‘BESTMIX® Food’ package which Adifo presented to us at around the same time. And, after a second, more detailed demo of the Adifo package, we were sold on the product. Our Dutch colleagues were soon persuaded too. And it was obvious to us that Adifo’s consultants had a sound knowledge of the foodstuffs industry. Not only were they familiar with our internal terminology, but they needed only a few words to identify our needs and understand our queries.”

Peter Tsjoen, sales director at Adifo: “In an initial phase, Lotus Bakeries entered the raw materials into the database, and in a second phase, all the recipes. This involved uploading the SAP data to ‘BESTMIX® Food’ and then checking, documenting and completing the records. It was then possible to start organising the system: inputting the calculation formulas, declarations, and so on.” Els Van Parys: “Adifo always started by explaining how we should approach the problem, and this enabled us to implement the processes ourselves. This soon turned out to be quite an advantage, because we learned a great deal about the system in the process.” After four months, “BESTMIX® Food” was up and running at Lotus Bakeries in Lembeke. And the users are full of praise for the application. Els Van Parys explains: “We are extremely happy with the results. We were given no false claims by Adifo: ‘BESTMIX® Food’ really does offer the functionality and user-friendliness they promised. It might require something in the way of time and effort to implement, but you do reap the benefits of your investment immediately afterwards. We think we are extremely lucky to have crossed paths with Adifo!”
